Our traditions: Celebrating agricultural workers

The traditions and customs of the nation are the foundation of the statehood. The independent Belarus has not only preserved the legacy of the past but also created new traditions that show the achievements and the best qualities of the Belarusians.

Over the years of independence our sovereign country has been moving confidently forward, developing traditions in various spheres of life. One of these traditions is celebrating agricultural workers for their hard work. 1996 marked the debut edition of the Dazhynki harvest festival. It was instituted upon the initiative of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to become an annual showcase event for the agricultural industry. Until 2014, the event was held in one location, and now it takes place in one of the district capitals of each region. Changing its venue every year, the festival helps to dramatically transform small towns of Belarus. The festival in honor of agricultural workers: our traditions - in BelTA's photos.
