MP advocates bigger role of regions in Belarus' development

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Giving a greater priority to the regions is a great contribution to the future, Pavel Mikhalyuk, Member of the Standing Commission on Health, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy of the House of Representatives, told BelTA.

“The Belarusian People's Congress is the most accessible form of dialogue to discuss social and economic matters, political agenda, ideology and the general development of our state,” Pavel Mikhalyuk said.

According to him, a bigger role of the regions is one of most important issues on the agenda. “I think this should become a priority for the next five years, as we need to challenge the outflow of workforce to oblast capitals and the capital city, improve living standards, and give a boost to many industries and economic sectors. This will be a great contribution to the future,” the MP said.

The 6th Belarusian People's Congress will be held in Minsk on 11-12 February 2021 to discuss Belarus' social and economic development program for 2021-2025. The congress will bring together 2,700 delegates and invitees.
