MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) - The 15th Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum will commence at the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus on 11 December, BelTA has learned from the theater.
Leading opera soloists will gather on the Minsk stage for the fifteenth time. In this anniversary year, the program includes premiere performances by the Belarusian company, grand galas featuring stars of the world opera scene, landmark productions from the theater's repertoire and performances by leading opera houses from other countries that have garnered significant public and critical acclaim.
The opera forum will open with The Maid of Orleans on 11 December. It will also be performed on 12 December. On 11 December, the title role will be performed by laureate of international vocal competitions Daria Gorozhanko, and on 12 December - by Honored Artist of Belarus Oksana Volkova. On the opening night, the audiences will see People's Artist of Bashkortostan Artem Makarov at the conductor's podium, while the second performance will be conducted by the young maestro Vitaly Grishchenko.
On 19 December, the leading roles of Tatyana Larina and Eugene Onegin in the opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will be performed by soloists of the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theater, laureates of international competitions Dmitry Zuev and Natalia Petrozhitskaya.
These performances will serve as a beautiful finale to the Year of Tchaikovsky. This artistic project is being held by the Bolshoi Theater in honor of the 185th anniversary of the genius of Russian music.
Later, on 20 December, George Frideric Handel's opera Acis and Galatea will be premiered in the Chamber Hall of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus. On 21 December, laureates of the Glinka International Vocal Competition will perform on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus.
