Results of surprise inspection to be used for combat training of Belarusian soldiers

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Results of the surprise inspection of combat readiness of Belarus’ Armed Forces will provide the basis for operational combat training. Andrei Bogodel, Candidate of Military Sciences, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education and Science, Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, made the statement in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project On Point.
Referring to the surprise combat readiness inspection of Belarus’ Armed Forces, which was going on in army units, Andrei Bogodel noted that it had been organized in response to the situation in the world. “The situation around us is generally unstable, and the head of state even said at a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which took place in Bishkek in December, that Belarus is essentially a besieged fortress today. And what we see around us is precisely the view from this very fortress,” he said.

The expert noted an important feature of the inspection. “By and large, what is new about the surprise inspections authorized by the president? The fact that the head of state himself is the direct organizer of all these events. In other words, it is necessary to understand what it means to receive a package, figuratively speaking, signed by the head of state. For every military person he is first and foremost the commander-in-chief. This feeling of increased responsibility certainly gives rise to certain peculiarities in the conduct of such an event,” he shared.

Andrei Bogodel also emphasized that such events are not new for military formations while for those who always keep themselves and their equipment in good shape, everything was almost the same as during other inspections. “It is important to understand that if your unit, an army unit or formation is prepared, then, accordingly, the only peculiarity will be the package that comes from the president because matters of combat and mobilization readiness are, in principle, checked constantly. On the whole, the system of surprise inspections exists on its own: the commander-in-chief, the General Staff, and the defense minister authorize inspections. In other words, a specific plan is created, which is communicated to a small circle of people. The people that need to know this plan know it, and this is why it is always sudden for the commanders of formations and military units,” he explained.

The expert added that during a routine inspection absolutely any package can arrive and instruct the army unit to go to an unfamiliar area and carry out some kind of unexpected task. It was precisely the task that one of the military units carried out during a surprise inspection of the Armed Forces’ combat readiness.
