MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) — The viewership of the state mass media has grown tremendously, Information Minister Marat Markov told the media, BelTA has learned.
“I would like to acknowledge the work you [journalists] do, the work of the state mass media on the Internet in general. For example, the number of subscribers to national media on YouTube has risen up to 7.5 million, up by 44% over the previous year. It’s an impressive figure. The online audience of regional media grew even more - by about 53%. A total number of subscribers is 5.8 million people”, Marat Markov noted.
The growth at such a rate, according to the minister, means that the media fulfill their task of attracting, above all, young people.
As of 1 January 2025, there were 1,139 mass media in Belarus, 71 of which were online media. More than 2,000 foreign mass media were distributed.
