Natalya Kochanova
USHACHI, 10 February (BelTA) – At an extended offsite meeting of the Presidium of the Council of the Republic in Ushachi, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova outlined key priorities for handling public appeals, BelTA has learned.
The meeting reviewed the results of the work to process appeals submitted by individuals and legal entities in Vitebsk Oblast. “You know how much attention our country pays to handling citizen appeals. The president demands that we, parliamentarians and deputies at all levels, be attentive to people and address their problems. Furthermore, as the head of state always emphasizes, laws must be based on real-life practices,” Natalya Kochanova said.
The speaker noted that the president approved a plan for legislative work for 2026, which includes the work on amending the law “On appeals of individuals and legal entities.” In this regard, she called on all involved parties to contribute their ideas on how to make this work for efficient.
“In our country, this work is quite clearly structured. We have a clear purpose, we have built a coherent schedule for citizen receptions, and we know how to handle appeals. Yet sometimes, we simply lack attentiveness. I witnessed this myself at the last citizen reception on 4 February. When people begin asking questions, I realize that the public outreach efforts of parliamentarians and government officials, was not adequate. We have not communicated certain information through local newspapers or television,” Natalya Kochanova remarked.
