Iranian Parliament speaker to visit Belarus in 2025 

MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) - Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf may visit Belarus before the end of the year, head of the Belarus-Iran parliamentary cooperation group at the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Ali Asghar Bagherzadeh said during a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov said in Minsk on 21 July, BelTA learned.

"I would like to thank you for finding time to meet with us, for the good organization of the visit and for the hospitality," Ali Asghar Bagherzadeh said.

He thanked Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko for attending the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in 2024. I would like to convey to you the warmest wishes from the speaker of the Iranian Parliament and also thank you for inviting him to visit Belarus. We are working to organize a visit before the end of this year,” the head of the working group added.

An Iranian parliamentary delegation led by head of the Belarus-Iran parliamentary cooperation group at the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Ali Asghar Bagherzadeh arrived in Belarus on 20 July at the invitation of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. The working group on cooperation with the Iranian Parliament at the National Assembly of Belarus and the Belarus-Iran parliamentary cooperation group at the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran are planning to hold a joint meeting. In addition to meetings in the House of Representatives, the Iranian parliamentary delegation is set to tour a number of mechanical engineering enterprises, Belarusian State Medical University, the National Library and the Khatyn memorial complex.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation set up a working group on cooperation with the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran in May 2024. The mission of the group which is led by Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs Sergei Rachkov is to promote the Belarusian-Iranian relations via parliamentary diplomacy.
