Expert on Belarusian army’s snap inspection: People need to see they are protected

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – The unstable state of affairs in international relations forces Belarus to show its citizens that they are under the protection of the state. The opinion was offered by Andrei Bogodel, Candidate of Military Sciences, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education and Science, Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project On Point.
According to the expert, the sudden combat readiness inspection of the Armed Forces was a response to world events and was prompted by the situation developing around a neighboring friendly country. “Today when we talk about the United States hegemony, there is one state in the world that can wipe out that hegemony in one fell swoop. And that is Russia. No one else has such military potential. This also needs to be understood because many politicians have forgotten what a mushroom cloud looks like. Tests have not been conducted for a long time, and some people think that it is possible to try to attack this nuclear triad,” said Andrei Bogodel, recalling recent attempts to attack Vladimir Putin’s residence. “Everyone understands that the state residence is, first and foremost, a decision-making center and a command post, including for strategic nuclear forces. And many are even starting to write in their strategies that Russia is no longer that strong. I think that Russia still needs to understand that America promotes peace through strength.”

Speaking about the matter of testing the combat readiness of the Armed Forces, Andrei Bogodel emphasized that everything is interconnected. “We show all of it in mass media for a reason. People need to feel that they are protected and that we are ready for this new world where strength is beginning to play a primary role. It is no coincidence that we have tactical nuclear weapons, Iskander missiles, and it is no coincidence that we are conducting these inspections. The president said that drones and all the hardware are important, but more important are the soldiers who will launch these drones and drive these tanks. And in the end, in these difficult winter conditions the inspection showed the most important thing: we are ready to act in absolutely any conditions, and we have the right understanding of how to use our weapons system in such conditions. And the president correctly noted that no matter what anyone says about drones, the main role will still be played by artillery, which is the god of war today. And for those who find artillery insufficient, God forbid it ever comes to that, there is the nuclear mushroom cloud. The fact that today we clearly understand where we are going, why we are going there, and what is needed for our defense capability is the main indicator of our state’s security and the guarantee of not only military security, but also national security as a whole,” emphasized Andrei Bogodel.
