MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – We always prepare a whole range of proposals for a possible slogan of the Belarusian People's Congress but often the final version is solely the idea of the president, press secretary for the Belarusian president Natalya Eismont said in the latest episode of the documentary series Time Chose Us by the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“The slogan of the 2016 Belarusian People's Congress ‘Together for a Strong and Prosperous Belarus’ came to be long before 2016. That year it underwent minor changes. But there was also a very important change. The slogan of the second Belarusian People's Congress in 2001 was ‘For a strong and prosperous Belarus’. It entered our life firmly then, and it was our motto, with which we had been living for 15 years,” Natalya Eismont noted.
Speaking about the history behind slogans, especially those for the Belarusian People's Congress, Natalya Eismont said that this is a strategic event. "It outlines long-term prospects and the way we will live for the next five years. We always put in a lot of effort in preparing for this event. Of course, the president always sets the task to capture the zeitgeist. And this slogan must reflect the challenges of the time," the press secretary of the Belarusian leader noted.
According to her, creating slogans is a challenging process. "The expert community, our political scientists and journalists often take part in this process. Certainly, the President Administration plays the key role in it. We always prepare a whole bunch of proposals for the president. The head of state gets involved on the home stretch. But I would like to say that the president often comes up with the final version on his own. Sometimes he offers a completely new slogan, as was the case with last year's Time Chose Us slogan. This slogan is already familiar to all of us. It gave the name to your great project [the documentary series Time Chose Us ]. This idea was suggested by the president," she concluded.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko’s press secretary, in 2016 the word "together" was added to the familiar slogan of the second Belarusian People's Congress. "Of course, we had been building a strong and prosperous Belarus throughout all these years, but back then the issue of unity, internal unity, became very relevant. And the emphasis was placed on the idea that we had to stand together to be able to build a very strong and prosperous Belarus. So many years have passed, and we have realized that this slogan and the very essence of it are becoming increasingly relevant," she remarked.
