MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – The spring field work has been completed on schedule, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Leonid Zayats said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.
“The spring planting is over. The main focus was on nonfood crops - flax, rapeseed, sugar beets. Forage crops were also planted. We managed to amass a significant amount of mineral fertilizers (an increase of 1.3 times over last year). About 1.3 million tonnes of organic fertilizers were used. The entire spring planting was done within the agrotechnical time frame,” Leonid Zayats said.
Speaking about the expansion of arable land, he noted: “The area under sugar beets was expanded up to 95,000 hectares, or 10,000 hectares more than last year. More flax was planted in Minsk Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast, the area under spring rapeseed was also expanded,” the deputy prime minister said.
