MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) - The exhibition Dehua Porcelain from China will open at the Mikhail Savitsky Art Gallery in Minsk on 17 October, BelTA has learned .
The exhibition, organized in cooperation with the China International Culture and Tourism Exchange Center, the Chinese Cultural Center in Minsk, the Dehua County Administration, and the Dehua County Ceramic Industry Development Center, will present over 100 masterpieces of contemporary porcelain art.
Dehua County, located in Fujian Province, has been renowned for its snow-white porcelain for nearly 4,000 years. Known in Europe as Blanc de Chine (China White), it is prized for its delicacy, resonant ring, elegance, semi-transparency, and delicate texture. The secret of its distinctive warm white or ivory color lies in the low iron oxide content of the local kaolin, which allows the pieces to be fired at a high temperature. The masters of Dehua, while preserving centuries-old traditions, create both utilitarian and decorative pieces, emphasizing simplicity, purity, and elegance of form.
In 2021, the craftsmanship of Dehua porcelain was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The exhibition will stay open until 30 November.
