Brest Oblast joins Belarus' Guest Card project

BREST, 13 March (BelTA) – Brest Oblast has joined Belarus' Guest Card tourism project, BelTA learned from the sport and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.

“We are implementing the Guest Card regional project jointly with Mingorspravka. Buying this card, a tourist get a service package and can travel around the region. The card provides discounts on accommodation, catering, and also visits to museums and farmsteads,” the department said. Specialists continue to work on expanding the Guest Card program. More than 80 tourist entities of Brest Oblast have already joined the project.

The development of a network of tourism and information centers will be another milestone event for the region this year. Such centers will be opened at the region's local history museums. Brest specialists together with their foreign colleagues are also developing cross-border routes. Multi-destination tourism, which involves visits to several countries on a tour, is now particularly popular among travelers.

“We are preparing an ambitious project together with Poland and Lithuania. One of the routes connects Klaipeda and Brest (via Kaunas, Vilnius, Grodno) with access to Poland. The Belarus-Poland working group on cross-border tourism is also developing a number of road maps for new tourist destinations. We have started with Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Then we will cover Pribuzhskoe Polesie. We plan to develop routes on fortifications,” the department said. Specialists find interesting a project to develop a large tourist destination along the Mukhavets River.

In 2019 Brest Oblast was visited by more than 1.3 million tourists. The tourist flow went up by 9%. The growth of domestic travel made up 12.2%.
