Brazil's football legends Romário, Edmílson visit Belarus, share impressions

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – Legendary football players from Brazil Romário and Edmílson have visited Minsk and taken part in a football carnival on the Dynamo Stadium, BelTA has learned.

The world football champions are partners of the Blockchain Sports Football Academy that operates in three cities in Brazil. Students of the academy arrived in the Belarusian capital city to participate in a friendly match against a team of the Second League of the Belarusian Championship Uni X Labs. Blockchain Sports Football Academy uses cutting-edge technologies developed by the Belarusian IT company X-Labs Inc.

“It’s really important for me to be part of this event. I really hope that children in Brazil will have a chance at a better future. The Blockchain Sports project and Belarusian specialists have done a lot for the youth of our country and, I hope, more will be done going forward,” said Romário, a football player-turned politician who starred for Brazil in their 1994 FIFA World Cup triumph. “Honestly, I don’t remember ever playing against Belarus. But after visiting this country and getting acquainted with your football, I came to the conclusion that a lot of attention is paid here to technique as well as discipline on the field,” the football star said.

“This is my first visit to Belarus. Thanks to our interaction, I finally saw this beautiful country and I really liked it. I feel an invisible connection between Minsk and São Paulo, these cities are like two close friends,” noted 2002 world champion Edmílson. It has long been known that football has incredible power to promote education and growth. The Blockchain Sports platform gives children from all over the world a chance to excel, this is a strong union of technology and sports. I am confident that this project will bring cooperation between Brazil and Belarus to higher level.”
