Belarusian Women's Union interested in practical cooperation with All-China Women's Federation

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) - The Belarusian Women's Union is interested in advancing practical cooperation with the All-China Women's Federation, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said at a web-based seminar of women MPs of Belarus and China on 29 April, BelTA has learned.

"Today we are holding the first seminar of women MPs in the history of bilateral relations. This is a landmark event, which, I hope, will become a good tradition. I sincerely thank the leadership of the Chinese Parliament and Li Zhanshu personally for supporting the proposals of the Council of the Republic to promote women's cooperation," Natalya Kochanova said. “The Republic of Belarus cherishes and is proud of its relations with the Great China, which, thanks to the friendship between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and China President Xi Jinping, have reached the level of strategic partnership. We would like our leaders to meet more often. We are waiting for their meeting in September within the framework of a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization."

The speaker stressed that women of Belarus and China make a significant contribution to the preservation of national traditions, strengthening the institution of the family, developing women's entrepreneurship, increasing the role of women public administration.

"The Belarusian Women's Union is the largest women's public organization in Belarus. The union marked its 30-year milestone in December 2021 and has more than 150,000 women with an active citizenship. Most recently, we held the second national women's forum Peace in the Hands of Women where Belarusian women discussed issues of historical memory, citizenship and patriotism of young people, international cooperation. We are grateful to the Chinese side for sending a message of greetings to the forum," the speaker of the Council of the Republic said.

"The Belarusian Women's Union and the All-China Women's Federation adhere to similar goals, principles and values: they work to protect the rights and legitimate interests of women, the family and children, strive to enhance the role of women in the socio-political, socio-economic and cultural life of the two countries. We are grateful to you for providing financial assistance for the development of the women's movement in Belarus," Natalya Kochanova added. “The Belarusian Women's Union is interested in deepening practical cooperation with the All-China Women's Federation. I am convinced that the memorandum of cooperation that we are set to sign today between the women's movements of Belarus and China will give a new impetus to our interaction."

The agenda of the seminar includes topical issues: the role of women MPs in public administration and the promotion of economic and social development, the protection of the rights and interests of women, the strengthening of international cooperation, the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
