MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – The training of military personnel, who have been recalled to active duty within the framework of the ongoing comprehensive inspection of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces continues in a military unit of the Western Operational Command, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The reservists are busy learning how to operate issue vehicles, radio stations, power plants in addition to meeting special training qualifications, learning how to deploy communication stations and maintain weapons and hardware.

“I completed my mandatory military service seven years ago and it is the first time I have been recalled from the reserve. I am in great mood! I’m lucky since the training is taking place at my former military unit. Everything here is familiar to me. During the classes I remembered what I learned during my military service and I’ve already learned a lot of new things because military technology doesn’t stand still: new communications equipment and new tactical methods are now available to the troops. Such training camps are necessary so that we are ready to defend our native country if necessary,” said Pavel Prokhorov, a conscripted reserve private.
Reserve Junior Sergeant Aleksandr Romanchuk noted that he completed his compulsory military service 11 years ago in the 86th Communications Brigade. He is doing well at the training camp and enjoyed training in the field, especially firearms training.

“I was keen to perform the shooting exercise using a Kalashnikov assault rifle. During the training camp I realized that there is no need to be afraid of such events. My impressions are only positive,” said the conscript.
“At the training camp with conscripts we are doing real work: we study and maintain the military equipment entrusted to us, and yesterday we refreshed our knowledge of firearms training, engineer training, military medical training, and other subjects. We have a friendly team, everyone helps each other. I am confident that we will successfully complete the tasks of the inspection,” said the reserve private Kirill Shablinsky.

Reserve Private Sergei Khomich serves as a driver at the training camp and he completed his military service as a BMP-2 mechanic-driver 26 years ago. Since then he has not been recalled from the reserve because he is a father of many. “My children have grown up, and it’s time to refresh my knowledge and skills and remember what I learned during my military service. I have a full driver’s license, so I am also ready to share my experience and help my comrades and conscripts with the repair and maintenance of military equipment,” he said.
