MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Railways has transported over 2 million passengers on routes to Russia since the beginning of 2025, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Railways press service.

“Since the start of this year, more than 2 million passengers have been carried on routes to Russia, including transit trains passing through Belarus. This represents a 14.4% increase year-on-year. Moscow and Saint Petersburg remain the most popular destinations, accounting for nearly 87% of direct passenger traffic,” the press service reported.

To meet passenger demand on Russia routes, 22 train pairs are currently operating. “Additional trains are scheduled on weekends and holidays when needed, serving Moscow and Saint Petersburg routes. In January-July 2025, 156 extra trains were scheduled, including 109 operated by Belarusian Railways, which transported over 100,000 passengers,” Belarusian Railways noted.
