
MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) - Belarus is expected to receive the first Su-30SM2 fighter jets at the end of May, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus Andrei Lukyanovich said in an interview to STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“We will receive the first pair of Su-30SM2 in the near future, at the end of May. The jets are more advanced, with modern avionics. The capabilities are quite different, including the use of aerial weapons,” Andrei Lukyanovich said.
Speaking about the participation of Belarusian pilots in the parade, the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces said that by doing so they not only show their professionalism, aviation equipment, but also their readiness to defend the Motherland at any moment.
Continuing the theme of the Victory Day parade, Belarusian Deputy Defense Minister Aleksandr Naumenko told ONT TV channel that a parade demonstrates to the people the combat capability, modernity and preparedness of the army to defend the country. “It demonstrates the country’s military potential to all foes or ill-wishers who can afford to just think of encroaching on the borders of our Motherland,” he said.
