Belarus' sport ministry, UNICEF to hold webinar on family sports on 15 May

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry will hold a webinar on ways to develop family sports in the country. The event will start at at 11a.m. 15 May and will be timed to the International Family Day, BelTA learned from the UNICEF Office in Belarus.

Representatives of sports organizations, athletes and amateurs will take part in the webinar.

Registration is required to watch the webinar (a link to the questionnaire is available on the UNICEF Belarus website). Applications are open till 14 May.

At first the webinar will talk about the family football festival. The project, launched in 2016 by the Belarusian Football Federation and UNICEF, has become one of the most successful mass sports projects not only in Belarus but also in Europe.

The speakers will then talk about family sports in Kalinkovichi, namely the projects SportFamily and Sports Kids. The topic of street sports will also be touched upon: the project managers will share their experience of how to start from scratch and reach 130 events and 1,500 participants per year.

Tatiana Yakovleva, the manager of the psychological and educational program of the SportInclusion in Swimming project, will talk about the involvement of families in children's sporting activities. Yulia Kopichenko, the initiator and curator of the VeloFAmily non-profit project, will speak about the organization of family themed rides and bike excursions.

The final theme of the webinar will be social rehabilitation and integration of persons with special needs into society through physical training and sports, with the active involvement of all family members.
