Belarus’ military industry chief reveals Polonez-M MLRS upgrade plans

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – The multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) Polonez-M will be upgraded, Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry Dmitry Pantus told reporters ahead of the organization’s board meeting in Minsk, BelTA reports.
“Any weapon system requires modernization sooner or later, and the Polonez is no exception. We plan to expand the range of missiles compatible with this system in the very near future. It’s also important to note that, given the rapid development of electronic warfare, all countries involved in rocket production are now paying special attention to missile jamming resistance. This is a global trend, and we are also working to keep pace. We are engaged not only in the work in the field of missile production but also in enhancing the jamming resistance of all systems that utilize satellite navigation channels,” said Dmitry Pantus.

He emphasized that the State Authority for Military Industry is working to develop the widest possible range of weaponry. “The head of state often stresses that we should not simply chase trends, such as the sharp increase and scaling-up of UAV production. We strive to develop and manufacture the broadest possible spectrum of arms. Regarding small arms, I would like to note that in 2026, I believe as early as this summer, we will demonstrate the fully localized production of the Sapphire grenade launcher system. It was recently adopted into service and is now in serial production, being manufactured and supplied not only to our Armed Forces but also to foreign customers. Work in this area will continue in the near future,” the chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry added.

At the board meeting, the State Authority for Military Industry will review its performance in 2025 and over the last five-year period and discuss tasks for 2026.
