18th-century windmill remains found in Novogrudok

GRODNO, 1 December (BelTA) - Archaeologists from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) have uncovered a section of the foundation and part of the millstone of an 18th-century windmill in Novogrudok, BelTA learned from the NASB Institute of History.

Archaeologists Natalya Pochobut and Leonid Koledinsky from the Department for Archaeological Heritage at the Institute of History have uncovered a section of an 18th-century foundation, constructed from boulder stone with inclusions of period bricks. A part of the millstone (the lower stone) was also discovered. It will be sent to the Novogrudok Regional History Museum.

The structure documented and described by the archaeologists is a section of the foundation of a brick windmill that once stood on this site.
