VOLOZHIN DISTRICT, 12 February (BelTA) – The snap inspection of the Armed Forces authorized by the Belarus president continues. Soldiers of the 120th Independent Guards Mechanized Brigade practiced their actions at a resistance node in Volozhin District, Minsk Oblast, BelTA has learned.
Before taking up positions at the resistance node, the servicemen marched for several kilometers from a military training area in Borisov District where the unit had been conducting training exercises. “During the march a simulated enemy ambushed us, but we repelled the attack. The personnel demonstrated their resilience and skillfully accomplished the tasks assigned to them. The men are motivated,” said Daniil Bykov, commander of a motorized infantry company.
Aleksandr Stepanyuk, an employee of the State Secretariat of the Security Council, said that after arriving in the area the company commander organized the work to set up firing positions, create a fire system, and build engineering barriers. “At that time the enemy was actively conducting aerial reconnaissance. It was detected both by the company and by the attached electronic warfare forces. After nighttime reconnaissance the simulated enemy sent sabotage and reconnaissance groups in an active attempt to find weak spots in the defenses, break through them, and capture the company’s strongpoint. These attempts were repeated throughout the night from various directions. I would like to say that the company acted successfully, and command and control was exercised continuously and in a timely manner,” emphasized Aleksandr Stepanyuk.
“After the nighttime actions the enemy did not cease its attempts to find weak spots, break through the defenses, and capture the strongpoint, but the company’s soldiers successfully repelled the attack. Despite the fact that the simulated enemy had various types of weapons, including unmanned aerial vehicles, the company acted confidently and did not allow a breakthrough in this direction,” concluded the employee of the State Secretariat of the Security Council.
BelTA reported earlier that the large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces authorized by the head of state began on 16 January. Aleksandr Lukashenko personally monitors its progress. A new system has been worked out to enable the president to place military units on combat alert without involving the Defense Ministry and the General Staff. The primary goal of this inspection is to see an objective picture. This is why the events are sudden.
