BEIJING, 4 June (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping are holding a meeting in Beijing, BelTA has learned.

The two leaders arrived at the Zhongnanhai residence. First, a working meeting in the format of tea drinking is planned. After that, the heads of state will talk one-on-one. It will be followed by a luncheon.

The day before, Aleksandr Lukashenko met with representatives of the Chinese business community in Beijing. Speaking about the upcoming meeting with the Chinese leader, Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Tomorrow, we will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and discuss the mechanical engineering and technological modernization of certain areas of the manufacturing industry in Belarus. It is the idea of President Xi Jinping, who, as we see, is spearheading a scientific and technological revolution in mechanical engineering in China.”

First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov, who is also in China, gave an interview to journalists where he emphasized the special format of Aleksandr Lukashenko's current visit to China: “The talks are an additional activity. The main thing is the trip itself, to be precise, its format. This format is not used for any other world leaders. It is a friendly family lunch. That is the main thing.
