MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) - The Belarusian head of state was asked about a successor, BelTA has learned.“I'm not looking for this successor. I don't know whether Natalya Ivanovna [Kochanova, speaker of the upper house] or Vladimir Evgenyevich [Kukharev, Minsk mayor] are looking for one. But they are probably thinking it over,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
At the same time, he is not indifferent to who will be in power in the country. “We are still living in this electoral period. We will think about it after the election,” the head of state said.
In his words, now it is necessary to think how to successfully pass 2025, developing cooperation with Russia, and how to build the future of the country so as not to fall into dependence, including on Western countries. “We will build our life in the right way. The French, Italians [and others] should know that we will build our lives. You will not do anything to us,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
