Lukashenko: China is a true friend of Belarus

BEIJING, 2 September (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko called China a true friend of Belarus as he met with Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Secretariat and Director of the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, in Beijing, BelTA has learned.

“Over the thirty years of our cooperation, I cannot recall a single instance where you have treated our country disrespectfully, where you have not supported Belarus, or where you have not responded kindly to our requests. In short, you are true friends,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed hope that the area outlined during his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with a focus on industrial cooperation, will yield very good results.

In a meeting with Cai Qi, the head of state noted that at such events, it is customary to express standard diplomatic pleasantries, thanking the host for their hospitality. “In this case, at this moment, I want to sincerely thank you (this is not about diplomacy, nor is it about being diplomatic) express my heartfelt appreciation for everything you have done and are doing for Belarus, especially during my visit. As a great country and representative of a great civilization, you do the unimaginable for your guests. Not only for me, but for all guests. There are more than thirty of them here [at the level of country leaders and heads of international organizations]. You ensure they leave China in good spirits and remain your friends forever,” the president said.

He highlighted the importance of this for relations between states. However, in the case of cooperation with Belarus, another aspect is even more significant: “We have managed to build a solid foundation for our relations. We have strong trade and economic ties. We have no problems in the realms of politics or diplomacy. We always support each other on international platforms. We have established the closest and most friendly relations between our countries' leaders.”
