Lukashenko appreciates rainy weather’s good effect on future harvest

MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) – This year’s weather will have a good effect on the harvest. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he visited the Mound of Glory memorial complex on 3 July, BelTA has learned.

During the trip to the memorial complex Aleksandr Lukashenko could not pass up on the opportunity to ask the head of the Minsk Oblast administration about the ongoing harvesting campaign in the region.

“Have you finished the first grass cutting?” the head of state wondered.

“We have gathered in practically everything. We’ve already started the second cutting,” Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Aleksei Kushnarenko said.

The president was informed that the work proceeds on schedule in Minsk Oblast and the rest of the country.

“The first grass cutting is already over. Vitebsk Oblast has yet to complete it. The weather is warm now. Corn has started ripening well,” Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin noted.

While talking to veterans later on, the head of state stated that this year’s weather would contribute to a good harvest. “Our Lord has granted us good weather. It keeps raining but it is only for the best. Look! The fields have never been like this. It means we will have a good harvest of cereals. And potatoes, too,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

The president also made a few remarks about the beautification of the territory around the memorial complex. In his opinion, more trees should be planted over there.

“The mound should stay a mound. It should be free. I often drive to the airport, look at the place, and wish there was some park or a bigger grove. The oblast governor promises to plant a good park here,” the head of state said.
