Volkov to lead CIS observation mission at parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) - The CIS observation mission at the elections of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh in the Kyrgyz Republic will be headed by Vasily Volkov, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Free Elections Foundation. His nomination was approved at a meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives in Minsk on 27 September, BelTA has learned.

"He worked in the CIS Executive Committee, served as secretary of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers and as a member of the Russian Central Election Commission. He has visited Kyrgyzstan more than once. He also led the CIS observation mission at the last elections in the Kyrgyz Republic," said Sergei Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee and CIS Executive Secretary.

The parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan are scheduled for 28 November.
