SAINT PETERSBURG, 22 December (BelTA) – Kazakhstan suggests integrating artificial intelligence into the work of the Eurasian Economic Union. The initiative was put forward by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, BelTA has learned.
“The world has now entered an era of total digital transformation and artificial intelligence. It is imperative that we not only keep pace with these developments but actively integrate advanced technologies into every sector of our member states’ economies. Consequently, we advocate for the full embrace of artificial intelligence technologies across the union’s activities. In particular, such systems can already be used to forecast trade flows and assess the impact of customs duties,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
He further proposed that his EAEU colleagues prepare a joint statement on the responsible development of artificial intelligence within the union.
The president of Kazakhstan noted that the outgoing year 2025 marks an anniversary for the EAEU, and the union has confidently entered its second decade of development. “We have ensured sustainable growth in mutual trade, joint infrastructure projects are being successfully implemented, and industrial cooperation is expanding. Despite the global upheavals of recent years, we have managed to maintain positive economic momentum,” he stated. “The combined gross domestic product of the EAEU countries is expected to increase by 2% in 2025. According to forecasts, the growth of gross domestic product will become sustainable over the next two years,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
