MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – Editor-in-chief of the Russian magazine Natsionalnaya Oborona Igor Korotchenko shared his impressions of the interview with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko as he talked to the media, BelTA informs.
“Aleksandr Lukashenko is an outstanding politician and leader. You especially understand the caliber of his personality in a face-to-face interview,” Igor Korotchenko said.
In his words, Aleksandr Lukashenko reaffirmed the commitment to the strategic partnership, the allied relations with the Russian Federation, the unison of goals and objectives in the current turbulent world when pressure is increasing and a hybrid war is being waged.
“Belarus is a reliable ally of the Russian Federation. Our peoples are bound by sincere relations of friendship and kindness. Of course, the Belarusian leader is the person with huge intellect and political will. He has strategic goals. It is very important for modern politicians,” the military expert emphasized.
He expressed an opinion that today western politicians are not big personalities as in the past. “They no longer play such a big role on the political arena. We see political dwarves who are just inadequate in their statements and behavior and dishonor their nations,” Igor Korotchenko said. “Lukashenko represents Belarus with dignity. He is a big-caliber politician. I think that all of us are lucky to have Aleksandr Lukashenko as a leader of Belarus and Vladimir Putin as a leader of Russia because in many aspects they have bigger personalities than leading European politicians.”
“I am very impressed by the today's conversation. We had an informal, warm and sincere meeting. Our feelings of respect and appreciation for Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] are growing stronger. I think that this interview will be interesting as it has some exclusive moments. As for the personal impression, this is a colossal journalist's luck to talk to such a politician, to ask questions and to get answers, and, what is the main thing, to convey those ideas to the Russian audience,” the editor-in-chief said.
According to Igor Korotchenko, the main thing is the adequate attitude of the Belarusian president to the current political reality, the necessity to protect the state sovereignty amid a hybrid war which has been launched against Belarus. He also mentioned a rich and long political experience of the Belarusian leader: “It is of colossal importance, especially today, when we witness the increasing pressure on Belarus and Russia. The world is going through a turbulent time. Strong politicians are the political legacy of any country. Aleksandr Grigoriyevich [Lukashenko] is a politician of this scale.”
The military expert also praised the achievements of the Belarusian president who fought off a colossal attack of the West trying to carry out a coup in Belarus. “Few countries could protect their sovereignty as the Republic of Belarus did. We saw the collapse of states, their leaders, devastation, suffering, losses and blood of millions of people in places where leaders failed to protect their states,” he said.
