MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – Closer cooperation in defense and security is aligned with core interests of Belarus and Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Union State Supreme State Council meeting in Minsk on 6 December, BelTA has learned.
“Russia and Belarus are ramping up cooperation in defense and security, in defense industry. This is in the fundamental interests of our countries and peoples. Members of the Union State have a unified air defense system and a joint military task force. Law enforcement agencies keep in touch on a daily basis. The Union State Military Doctrine has recently been updated,” the Russian leader noted.

The Union State Security Concept was submitted for approval to the Supreme State Council. It contains assessments of the current international situation and suggests joint measures to counter the main challenges and threats, Vladimir Putin said.
