Makei: Huge money is spent to change mindset of our people

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Belarus has faced a massive, multi-tier attack on all fronts, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said after the annual meeting of the Russian-Belarusian ministerial collegium in Moscow on 10 November, BelTA has learned.

“The situation for our countries is not getting better with time. The sanctions against Minsk and Moscow are piling up. A real, large-scale, multi-level attack on all fronts has been unleashed against Belarus. And it is absolutely clear that human rights or other ideals have absolutely nothing to do with it. Our countries are exposed to a flurry of information attacks. A lot of money is channeled into changing the attitudes of our people, especially the youth. Post-truth, streams of lies, false values - all this works as a weapon of mass destruction,” the foreign minister said.

According to him, the parties will continue working together at international platforms on information security promoting the truth and countering attempts to falsify history. “We are determined to push for a constructive and mutually respectful dialogue with all states. At the same time, all unfriendly moves against our countries will be met with a consolidated response,” Vladimir Makei said.

He also expressed concern about Nato's continuing groundless military buildup on the border of the Union State. “So far, unfortunately, our Western partners prefer not to hear us,” the minister said.
