MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) - Belarus has always been committed to a policy of friendship with Ukraine, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at a press conference in Minsk on 16 February, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Makei stressed that Belarus has always been committed to a policy of friendship with Ukraine and views the country as an important trade and economic partner and its people as a kin nation.
“We did not start the deterioration of relations with our southern neighbor. The other party did. We were perplexed to see them rush ahead of everyone, even ahead of the European Union, to initiate a number of destructive measures against Belarus,” the minister said.
He recalled the statement of President Aleksandr Lukashenko who said that Belarus would never come to Ukraine on a tank, but on a tractor. “This speaks for itself,” Vladimir Makei added.
