MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – Belarus has never been an "evil incarnate" as the West is portraying it now, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in an interview with RT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus has never been an "evil incarnate" as the West is trying to portray us now. Belarus has never initiated any actions that would destabilize the situation in our region. We have never had any territorial claims, unlike some other countries. Until recently our domestic political situation was calm, normal, stable,” Vladimir Makei noted.
But following a failed attempt to organize a coup d'état in Belarus, its Western partners imposed sanctions and the country was forced to retaliate, the minister noted. "We will respond adequately to the negative steps that have been taken and will be taken against Belarus," he said.
