Deputy PM: Belarus is ready to overcome sanctions together with Venezuela

MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to weather the sanctions together with Venezuela, Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said as he met with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Caracas, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

The Belarusian side once again congratulated Nicolás Maduro on his victory in the election and his inauguration as president of the country. Viktor Karankevich conveyed the best regards and congratulations to the Venezuelan leader from Belarusian head of state Aleksandr Lukashenko.

“We are confident that under your leadership the country will be able to further strengthen its independence. We are ready to overcome all the sanctions  and obstacles together,” Viktor Karankevich emphasized.

In turn, Nicolás Maduro pointed to the high level of representation of Belarus at his inauguration. “Venezuela remains a loyal ally and friend for Belarus,” he said.

The Venezuelan president confirmed his readiness to visit Belarus this year and conveyed warm greetings to the president of Belarus, the prime minister and the Belarusian people.
