Belarus’ FM meets with Kazakhstan president

MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) - Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov is paying an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan on 14-15 April, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

On the first day of the visit, 14 April, the minister met with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The parties exchanged views on the state of Belarus-Kazakhstan bilateral cooperation, its future prospects, and current issues on the international agenda. Maxim Ryzhenkov conveyed greetings and best wishes from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the president of Kazakhstan.

The minister congratulated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the successful nationwide referendum to adopt a new Constitution in Kazakhstan. He praised the high level of public trust in the president’s course aimed at modernizing the country and strengthening statehood.

Maxim Ryzhenkov also held talks with Kazakhstan’s Foreign Affairs Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. The parties discussed in detail a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues, as well as the schedule of upcoming highest-level and high-level visits. Special attention was given to the development of trade and economic cooperation. The talks highlighted the high level of interaction between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Kazakhstan. Maxim Ryzhenkov invited his Kazakh counterpart to pay an official visit to Belarus.

The ministers also examined the current situation on the global stage and focused separately on cooperation between Belarus and Kazakhstan within international organizations and integration structures, including the UN, CIS, SCO, and BRICS. They noted the similarity of approaches to building dialogue on multilateral platforms and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to a more just, multipolar world order.

On the same day, Maxim Ryzhenkov visited the EXPO pavilion, now the Astana Hub international IT startup technopark, where he familiarized himself with the technopark’s digital infrastructure, several artificial intelligence developments, and startup projects implemented in Kazakhstan. He lauded the prospects for bilateral cooperation in this field.
