MOSCOW, 10 October (BelTA -TV BRICS) - The panel discussion “AI Without Borders: Collaboration as a Driver of Success in Shaping the Future” took place at the II International Symposium "Inventing the Future". The event brought together experts from various countries to discuss the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping the economy and social infrastructure of the future.

The discussion was moderated by Kristina Muravyova, TV BRICS Executive Producer, who noted that AI is forming the framework of future society, where humans and machines will increasingly share roles, jointly making decisions, creating, and forecasting social development.

“Futurologists are already observing the emergence of new social institutions. They are being built around trust in data and around automated decision-making,” she said.

In turn, Tatyana Benua, President of the National Artificial Intelligence Foundation and founder of the BRICS+AI Alliance, stated that cooperation within BRICS will make it possible to establish networked AI universities, train national models, and develop a common AI ethical code. She recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier supported the initiative to establish the BRICS Artificial Intelligence Alliance.

During the discussion, Anna Abramova, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Centre of MGIMO University (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia), proposed the creation of a roadmap for AI development for the BRICS member states.

Cristina Amor Maclang, Co-Founder and Secretary General of the International Digital Economies Association (IDEA), underlined the importance of cooperation with digital transformation leaders for emerging markets in Southeast Asia, Africa and South America.

In an exclusive comment to TV BRICS, Maclang noted that AI opens up opportunities for fairer distribution of financial resources, increased agricultural efficiency, and the implementation of innovations in regions where they are most needed. According to her, in this context, events like this are of particular significance.

“I believe what is truly important is that the regions of the Global Majority regularly come together to exchange knowledge and learn from one another. I am particularly pleased to note that both Malaysia and Indonesia from the ASEAN region have recently joined BRICS, either fully or in part. That said, the Global Majority countries remain net importers of technology, whereas Russia is both a net exporter and creator of it. Therefore, we hope, as I mentioned earlier, to engage directly with many of the global leaders gathered here,” stated Cristina Amor Maclang.

Galli Monastyryova, a member of the Expert Council on Africa under the State Duma of the Russian Federation, told the media network that the African continent is also advancing in AI development. According to her, countries are gradually implementing the technology in agriculture, healthcare and education. However, African nations need to deepen their cooperation with Russia and other leading countries in this field, she added.

At the end of the discussion, the speakers outlined key trends for the near future: the expansion of AI applications in healthcare, culture, arts and agriculture; the mass implementation of multi-agent systems; and the creation of a global dataset for AI training that takes regional specificities into account.

The symposium "Inventing the Future" was held under the Decade of Science and Technology, bringing together experts from 85 countries. The event was organised with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The TV BRICS International Media Network acted as the international information partner.
