MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – Deputy Head of Mission of Pakistan in Belarus Momin Qureshi, Executive Director (Operations) at Trading Corporation of Pakistan Riyaz Ahmed Memon and representatives of Belgospishcheprom Concern have discussed the possibility to supply Belarusian products to Pakistan, BelTA has learned.

The negotiations were held at the Belgospishcheprom Concern headquarters. The Belarusian food industry concern was represented by Deputy Chairman Aleksandr Yakovchits, Head of the Department for Domestic Market and Foreign Trade Operations Igor Grutso and chief specialist at the Department for Domestic Market and Foreign Trade Operations Anastasia Grechko.

“We supply our products to more than fifty countries of the world,” the concern's press service quoted Aleksandr Yakovchits as saying. “Of course, our priority is to meet the needs of the domestic market, but diversification of sales markets is also quite important for us, and we certainly have potential for cooperation. We are ready to work with Pakistan, and in the near future we will inform heads of our enterprises about Pakistan's interest in their products,” he noted.

In November last year, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko made an official visit to Pakistan, where he held negotiations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. “Following this visit, we want to intensify trade and economic relations between our countries. We invite you to come to visit us, better in April - during the cherry blossom season,” Riyaz Ahmed Memon remarked.

During the negotiations, preliminary agreements were reached to consider sugar supplies to Pakistan.
