MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) – Members of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus are focusing on several aspects to refine the draft 2026-2030 Social and Economic Development Program, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Policy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Nikolaikintold the media before a thematic working meeting of the MPs, BelTA has learned.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed an order to set up a working group to finalize the draft 2026-2030 Social and Economic Development Program. The group includes delegates of the Belarusian People’s Congress, current and former heads of government agencies, organizations in the real economy, the academic community and public associations. Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Roman Golovchenko was appointed head of the group.

“Today we are holding an internal discussion of this program since MPs are delegates of the Belarusian People’s Congress. We continue to be actively involved in this work because this document is of direct concern to us. Moreover, people know that the head of state has instructed to finalize this program, and they are reaching out with various issues through their representatives, the MPs who represent their constituencies across the country, believing that these issues should be incorporated into the program,” the MP said.
Viktor Nikolaikin stressed that intensive work is underway in all the areas outlined by the head of the working group. “First of all, we are determining priorities, the main issues that need to be changed and refined. Then we identify the performance indicators for certain development areas,” he said. “It is very important that this program reflects the aspirations of the people, and the principals of the social state. This is what ensures a strong economy of the state.”

In his opinion, such discussions in the House of Representatives will help implement the head of state’s instructions on finalizing the program most comprehensively.

Viktor Nikolaikin emphasized that the main areas of the program will not change. “But it requires more detail and a review of the top-level targets set in it. The working group is divided into subgroups. Each of them is working on a certain area: economy, social development, national defense, and so on. The head of state set the task to complete this work by 1 November and report on the results,” Viktor Nikolaikin said.

During the meeting, the MPs will work on proposals to refine the draft program.
