MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) - Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Denis Meleshkin held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Belarus Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al Musharrakh to discuss the prospects for the development of relations with the UAE, BelTA learned from the press service of the BelCCI.
The parties took stock of Belarus' participation in the 14th AIM Congress in Abu Dhabi. Denis Meleshkin thanked the Ambassador for his interest in the work of the Belarusian delegation at the AIM Congress which took place on 7-9 April 2025. “This was the first such large-scale participation for Belarus, and we highly appreciate the opportunities that the Abu Dhabi platform opened up for our business. I would like to highlight the business part of the AIM Congress, including the session highlighting digitalization and innovation in the activities of chambers of commerce and industr,” Denis Meleshkin said.
He also said that the BelCCI has recorded a significant growth in direct investment from the UAE to Belarus: in January-September 2024, the investment increased almost four times year-on-year. “Belarus views the UAE not only as a strategic partner, but also as the largest hub for access to the markets of the Persian Gulf, Africa and Asia. Among the promising areas are the development of transportation and logistics infrastructure, establishment of joint ventures, participation of Belarusian companies in food security projects and opening offices in the UAE,” Dennis Meleshkin noted.
In July 2024, the Minsk branch of the BelCCI and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a cooperation agreement, which was an important step in the development of interregional interaction and business contacts. “The main objective of the agreement is to strengthen direct ties between the businesses of Minsk and Abu Dhabi, to create additional opportunities for joint projects, exchange of experience and trade and economic relations. We see great potential in the development of twinning relations between Minsk and Abu Dhabi, which could become a foundation for new initiatives in the manufacturing sector, logistics, IT and agribusiness,” said the deputy chairman.
The BelCCI reaffirmed its commitment to organizing business missions, industry seminars, B2B meetings and presentations of innovative projects, including with the participation of startups and representatives of free economic zones, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with the support of the Embassy.
