Belarus’ grain harvest past 4m tonnes

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Some 4 million tonnes of grain has been threshed in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 7 August, some 4,030,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, were cropped in Belarus. 

The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast harvested 1.092 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast 869,000 tonnes, Minsk Oblast 822,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast 484,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast 455,000 tonnes, and Vitebsk Oblast 308,000 tonnes. 

Belarus has harvested 40% of areas planted to grain crops (maize, buckwheat and millet not taken into account), which makes up 791,000 hectares. 

Some 120,000 tonnes of food grain have been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 17% of the target, along with 72,000 tonnes of rapeseed oilseeds, fulfilling 75% of the plan.

Flax has been pulled from 24,000 hectares, accounting for 50% of the planned area. 

Second-cut grasses have been mowed on 869,000 hectares, 81% of the target. 

Some 308,000 tonnes of hay (43% of the plan) and 11.284 million tonnes of haylage (81% of the plan) have been prepared so far, including 346,000 tonnes stored in polymer packaging. 

Forage production has reached 3.404 million tonnes (34% of target).
