Brest, Terespol to hold international run on 4 June

BREST, 1 June (BelTA) – The international Friendship run will link Belarusian Brest and Polish Terespol on 4 June, BelTA learned from Olesya Okrug, the head of the sport and tourism of the Brest City Hall.

The competition will be held for the 11th time and will feature 100 runners from Belarus, Poland, Ukraine and Russia. The runners will begin their journey from the regional sports complex Brestsky, will run along the streets of Brest towards the customs check point Varshavsky Most. To avoid halts at the border, the participants of the race will undergo passport control before the start of the race. The race will finish in the Polish Terespol.

The route is 12km long. Athletes will compete in five age groups for both men and women. Athlete with the best finish time will be announced winner. The youngest participant of the international race is an 11-year-old boy from Brest. The most experienced runner will be from Poland. He was born in 1947.

“Our race is designed to promote friendship and to strengthen twining relations between Brest and Terespol in sport, tourism, education, and culture,” Olesya Okrug noted. Next year the race will start on the Polish side, and finish in Brest, she added.
