Belarus 7th in BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2 relay

MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian team of Nadezhda Skardino, Irina Krivko, Anna Sola and Darya Yurkevich finished seventh in the women's relay in Hochfilzen, Austria on 13 December, BelTA has learned.

Until the final shooting stage the Belarusians were among medal contenders. Starter Nadezhda Skardino shot clean to tag 8.7 second behind leader Franziska Hildebrand of Germany. The second and third legs were the best part in the event for Belarus. Irina Krivko and Anna Sola covered their parts on par with the relay leaders – Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic. Anna Sola tagged Darya Yurkevich in fourth, who competed for the podium position until the standing stage.

However, one miss and one spare round put Darya Yurkevich in the final seventh position after the rivals from Poland, France and the Czech Republic (39.2 seconds back). The Italian team of Lisa Vittozzi, Karin Oberhofer, Federika Sanfilippo and Dorothea Wierer won in 1:05:32.6 with eight spare rounds. Germany was second a mere .2 seconds back with 7 spare rounds and no penalties. Ukraine finished third; 13.1 seconds back also with ten spare rounds.
