People of science, culture from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine establish Minsk Initiative

MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) – Participants of the conference Science and Culture in Modern Discourse, which took place in the capital city of Belarus on 2 December, have instituted the Minsk Initiative, BelTA has learned.

According to the statement made by participants of the trilateral meeting of people of science and culture from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, the Minsk Initiative has been established in view of the feeling of undoubtable affinity of the three Eastern Slavonic nations and their cultures. The founders said they realize that cultural and scientific cooperation in the trilateral format contains considerable potential. They refuse to accept the division of nations and cultures into greater and lesser ones. They expressed readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation on an equal footing in all kinds of format.

The Minsk Initiative is a comprehensive integral Belarusian-Russian-Ukrainian project meant to step up scientific and cultural activities in each country and in the common spiritual space by filling trilateral and multilateral cooperation with new sense.

The sides believe it is of fundamental importance to foster the professional advancement of new generations of scientists and to support young talents in the spheres of culture, literature, and art.

Participants of the conference declared the development of the inter-Slavonic scientific dialogue and cultural cooperation as a priority of their work. In their opinion, such trilateral meetings should be held regularly.

Experts from the three countries said they hope that representatives of other national sciences and cultures will join them and these meetings will become multilateral.
