Ukraine contact group may convene in Minsk on 10 February

MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) - The contact group may convene for a meeting in Minsk on 10 February, OSCE special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik told media on 20 January, BelTA has learned.

"The next meeting of the contact group is planned for 10 February but the Foreign Ministers of the Normandy Format may gather for a meeting at this time too. Therefore, I cannot say exactly," the OSCE representative said.

Martin Sajdik added that on 26 and 27 January, the working group on political affairs continued the discussion on the local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts. “Today's session paid special attention to the role of political parties and mass media, election administration, and security issues," he said.

Martin Sajdik was asked whether the group discussed the document with the proposals of Russia and the self-proclaimed republics regarding local elections. "They handed over the proposals regarding the constitution. The document was submitted at 14h30, thirty minutes before the end of the work in the political working group. I received it at exactly seven o'clock in the evening," said Martin Sajdik.
