MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – The CIS Executive Committee hopes that Ukraine will attend the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council to be held in Bishkek on 16 September, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters on 30 August, BelTA has learned.
“We have received no reply from Ukraine yet, but we hope that the country will be represented at the meeting of the Heads of State Council. I personally addressed the Ukrainian leadership several times, and Kyrgyzstan, the host country, sent them an invitation to attend the meetings of the Heads of State Council and the Heads of Government Council,” Sergei Lebedev noted.
In his words, the CIS Executive Committee is interested in this. “As the head of the CIS Executive Committee and as a person who lived in Ukraine for many years, I am deeply convinced that this is in the interests of Ukraine. We would very much wish to see this country remain part of our integration association,” Sergei Lebedev said.
