Zasulsky: Belarus, Ukraine have great potential for bolstering economic ties

BREST, 21 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Ukraine have great potential for bolstering trade and economic ties, Chairman of the Kiev Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nikolai Zasulsky said during the business matchmaking session as part of the First International Forum of Business Contacts Brest 2016, BelTA has learned.

“We happily accepted the invitation to participate in the matchmaking session in Brest. Belarus is one of our strategic partners. Unfortunately, in recent years, the mutual trade between our countries has fallen. Our task is to exert the maximum effort to restore the trade and add up to it. Belarus and Ukraine have enormous potential for cooperation which is based on the solid foundation of fraternal relations between our two peoples,” Nikolai Zasulsky said.

The Kiev Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the largest in the Ukrainian system of chambers of commerce and industry. The delegation, which arrived in Brest to take part in the forum, also included executives of major industrial enterprises, small businesses, representing the Ukrainian export potential in the agricultural sector, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, cosmetology and other sectors. They all would like to find Belarusian partners.

“The avenues and forms of cooperation may be different. For example, this can be high-tech solutions and trends related to the application of the new LED technology when a 2.2Wt bulb provides the same illumination as an 80Wt bulb. This technology has already been tested in Kiev. We are looking for partners who could start the production in Belarus. Or take ceramic tiles made in Brest for example. Its range and quality are beyond praise. These are cool products which can be popular on the Ukrainian market. Here are just a few examples of possible cooperation,” Nikolai Zasulsky said.

The Ukrainian delegation also plans to visit the expo of the forum and hold negotiations with exhibitors.
