Ukraine considering refining oil in Belarus

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) - Ukraine is considering a possibility of refining oil in Belarus, Ukraine Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Utilities Services Gennady Zubko said at a meeting of the Belarusian-Ukrainian intergovernmental joint commission on trade and economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.

“There is the possibility to supply oil for processing on a give-and-take basis,” said Gennady Zubko. He said he discussed the matter with Belarus Vice Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko.

Ukraine reaffirmed its willingness to develop industrial cooperation, to bolster ties in agriculture, to take advantage of transport corridors, not only rail but also water routes. Ukraine is interested to maximize the use of its seaports. Co-production of electrobuses and other equipment is promising too.

“Ukraine and Belarus can restore the trade back to $8 billion. There are all possibilities and preconditions for that,” Gennady Zubko said.

Following the meeting the parties are set to sign the protocol which is expected to become the action plan for the Belarusian and Ukrainian governments.
