Top 100 proposals for investors worked out in Belarus

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – Belarus has drafted a list of 100 top-priority pilot investment projects (proposals) for the new industrialization of regions, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Chervyakov told the media ahead of a meeting at the Economy Ministry on 16 February, BelTA has learned.

“The so-called plan of the new industrialization of Belarusian regions is, in other words, a map of opportunities for investors, which will help them find out where to invest, on what terms, and what are the best places to set up the manufacturing facilities,” Alexander Chervyakov said.

The plan has been prepared by the Economy Research Institute of Belarus' Economy Ministry. It is based on cross-sector flagship projects. A number of projects are related to the development of electric transport, production of automobile components and medical equipment, pharmaceutical industry, photonics, and energy-saving smart home technologies. The plan is to be updated at least once every four months.

The total volume of investment in the 100 projects is estimated at around $4 billion. “When we were drafting the plan, we were guided by the market demand and new technologies,” Alexander Chervyakov added. The projects were selected in accordance with the EAEU import substitution program. Over 300 products were selected from the list of import items to be manufactured at new facilities.

The new industrialization plan will be presented at the meeting at the Economy Ministry with the participation of Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov.
