Qatar shows interest in running projects in FEZ Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 7 July (BelTA) – A business delegation from Qatar is set to visit FEZ Vitebsk in 2018. A corresponding arrangement has been reached during the visit of Qatar Prince Sheikh Hamad Ali Al Thani to Vitebsk, BelTA learned from FEZ Vitebsk spokesperson Yulia Mikolaichik.

During the talks at the FEZ Vitebsk headquarters the guest from Qatar was informed about investment opportunities and logistic advantages of FEZ Vitebsk, business terms and preferences for the resident companies operating there. The parties discussed prospects of financial cooperation, in particular, in grain production. Other key points of the agenda included a greater exposure of Belarus as an investment destination in Qatar and promotion of products manufactured by FEZ Vitebsk resident companies in the Middle East.

All suitable investment proposals and information about land plots available for agricultural projects will be communicated to Qatari businessmen who are interested in running projects in Vitebsk. They have been invited to undertake a study tour to FEZ Vitebsk. The business delegation from Qatar is expected to come to Vitebsk in 2018, Yulia Mikolaichik said.

FEZ Vitebsk was founded in 1999 and occupies a territory of over 2,400 hectares. It consists of 13 sectors: 7 sectors are located in Vitebsk, 4 in Orsha District, 1 in Vitebsk District and 1 in Postavy District. The free economic zone has 39 resident companies representing investors from 12 countries. The scope of manufacturing activities at FEZ Vitebsk includes mechanical engineering, electronics, veterinary medicine, chemical industry, fuel industry, food production, light industry, etc. The total number of people working at FEZ Vitebsk resident companies nears 11,000.
