Over 46% of spring crops planted in Belarus

MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) - Spring crops have been planted on 46.5% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were sown on 1,100,200 hectares, which is 46.5% of the plan. Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were planted on an area of 556,600 hectares, which is 90.4% of the target.

Spring rapeseed was planted on an area of 19,700 hectares, which is 31.9% of the target. Sugar beet was planted on 92,800 hectares (89.9%), maize on 257,600 hectares (21%), including grain maize (49.3%), potatoes on 2,710 hectares (16.2%), vegetables on 1,670 hectares (33.3%).

Annual grasses were planted on 119,200 hectares, which is 54.3% of the plan. Flax was sown on an area of 34,500 hectares, which is 69.6% of the plan.
