CHEREPOVETS, 12 October (BelTA) – A new line to assemble Belarus tractors with the capacity of more than 120hp has been opened at the Cherepovets Casting and Mechanical Plant, with the first vehicle rolling off the line on 12 October, BelTA has learned.
The official ceremony was attended by Belarus' Deputy Industry Minister Alexander Ogorodnikov, Deputy State Secretary of the Union State Aleksei Kubrin, Vologda Oblast Vice Governor Aleksei Kozhevnikov, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
According to Director General of the Cherepovets Casting and Mechanical Plant Vladimir Boglayev, the Russian plant has been successfully cooperating with the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) since 2010. An agreement to implement four new joint projects was reached at the meeting with MTZ Director General Fyodor Domotenko a year ago. The first project was to launch a production line to assemble Belarus tractors with the capacity of more than 120hp. The Cherepovets plant will produce more than ten modifications of Belarus tractors. Vladimir Boglayev hopes that the annual number of Belarusian vehicles produced in Cherepovets will soon reach 4,000.
Deputy State Secretary of the Union State Aleksei Kubrin named the cooperation between the Cherepovets Casting and Mechanical Plant and the Minsk Tractor Works as one of the biggest Belarus-Russia industrial projects. In his words, Cherepovets accounts for almost one third of tractors produced in Russia. “The demand for this product is high. They are competitive as the world-class technologies are used in the production of Belarus tractors,” said the deputy state secretary.
Belarusian and Russian journalists attended the new production line inauguration ceremony as part of the press tour “Vologda is the biggest machine-building cluster of Russia and Belarus”, organized by the Union State Permanent Committee and the international news agency Russia Today.More about Economy
